Digital Pen & Paper System

In 2005 Formation Systems, LLC acquired Hewlett-Packard's enterprise Forms Automation System (FAS) technology.  We have since made a host of improvements to HP's system.  All the advantages of the FAS system are still there (print on demand, form prefill, unique pattern tracking, etc.) but are now available in a much easier to use and significantly less expensive package.

Formation Systems offers two core Digital Pen & Paper products:

1. Hosted Digital Pen Service   Ideal for developers, small implementations and testing.  All processing is handled on Formation Systems servers and output is made immediately available via remote secure FTP access.

2. Digital Pen Appliance  For enterprises that require all processing and data to be performed on site.  The Digital Pen Appliance is a turnkey system that significantly cuts the costs of digital pen deployments.  The Digital Pen System is also available as software only, for those who wish to install the system on their existing servers. The digital pen system is extremely scalable and able to handle thousands of users concurrently synchronizing.

The Formation Digital Pen System is an end-to-end enterprise solution that revolutionizes the way data from paper forms is gathered and processed. Users save time by eliminating the need to scan forms and manually re-key data. This simplifies forms workflow and reduces transaction costs three to four times versus the median transaction cost of $1.23.*

Very little end-user training is required because users are already familiar with this natural form-filling process. Users fill in forms using a digital pen which contains a ball-point ink cartridge and a small camera that captures pen strokes and puts them into digital form. After docking the pen in its cradle, the data is automatically integrated into the enterprise data infrastructure.
